Magnesium for stress

Updated: Mar 14, 2023

When I think about Magnesium the first thing that comes to mind is how calming it is. This is probably why I’ve had Natural Calm supplement in my stash for about 4 years and never thought about trying another brand. If you’re like me than you live in a city full of individuals who are not as logical as you and therefore make it their responsibility to continuously do stupid things…..I mean really stupid things. Magnesium reduces stress quickly. I could honestly just tell you to keep a bottle of Natural Calm in your pocketbook or backpack for the days that you will be dealing with the public and end the post right here! Ha! (that sales pitch is good enough).

But why is magnesium calming?

This is because it helps to eliminate cortisol (Remember that stress hormone I talked about in my B-vitamin blog) and it is anti-inflammatory as well. It does a bunch of other cool things, too, like regulate blood sugar but I’ll save that for another blog. Magnesium is a mineral that works well when balanced with calcium and these days if you live in America you are getting way too much Calcium (ice cream, milk, and cheese) and not so much Magnesium (spinach, almonds, and Raw Cacao). Don’t forget to partner that with lots of stress and now you’ve just lowered your, already low, magnesium a little bit more.

Calcium needs the magnesium to stabilize it.

Magnesium helps muscles relax. In fact, your heart beat is a prime example of the synergy shared between calcium and magnesium. The calcium causes the contraction and the magnesium cause the heart to relax. That is why chocolate is good for the heart (lol) no but really that old saying comes from the fact that raw cacao is high in magnesium. I think another cool thing to mention here is that the worlds oldest people usually have diets where they consume large amounts of olives or large amounts of chocolate(not the overly processed junk).

I chose Natural Calm because it’s vegan, non-GMO, and gluten free. They have a few flavors but I prefer the original (I’m so boring lol). When I first purchased natural calm I would take it every day now I’m on an as needed basis. Which is usually when I can’t get right to sleep or when I have tight muscles. Yes, you read correctly, you can take this stuff before bed. It is definitely rare that I recommend anything before bed. It is not expensive and seems to be well distributed in stores that are frequently visited. The directions say something about boiling water and then added the 2 teaspoons of the supplement. I do this sometimes but on a regular day “ain’t nobody got time for that”. There may be a slight difference in absorption but nothing worth me taking the time to boil water every time I need it.

Try it and let me know how it worked for you. Don’t forget you can also take Epsom salt baths and let the magnesium into your body topically. Find some recipes that call for raw cacao and post them below. The goal is to only use supplements to catch up and then rely on a well balanced diets.

DON’T FORGET TO SUSCRIBE, COMMENT, SHARE & BE THE LIGHT!

Peace & blessings
